What Did You Do This Summer?
Posted on September 2, 2010 · Leave a CommentGreetings all residents of Presidio East! It’s been an awesome summer and we hate that’s it’s almost over; we’ve had a great time with you all. From the Block Party in July to the Name the Fish Campaign, it was all an experience that we won’t soon forget. But, we’d like to know what else you all did this summer.
Did you take an Alaskan Cruise? Did you go hike Mount Kilimanjaro? Or maybe you just took a trip up to NorCal. Whatever it is you did, we’d like to know! And so would everyone else on the property. So, if you don’t mind leave a quick comment and let us know.
And be sure to “stay tuned” to the Facebook page, Twitter page and blog for any news and our next contest/campaign!

Are Fall Fests More Calm?
Posted on September 1, 2010 · Leave a CommentIt seems that summertime is reserved for festivals like beer fests and free outdoor concert series, but as soon as the leaves on the trees begin to turn colors and fall to the ground the “celebrations” tend to change. Fall festivals are more laid back than those in the summer. Does it have to do with the sun? Does that fiery star 865,000 miles away bring something out of us during it’s highest point in the sky? Quite possibly.
But, as the sun begins its annual descent to the fall equinox our days become shorter and our festivals become calmer. Or is that all just speculation? Let’s test this theory out this fall. I’m going to list a bunch of upcoming fall festivals for you to attend and I want you to tell me if they are more laid back than summer fests. I guess you can call this a social experiment of some sort. Check out a few of the fall fests:
- 35th annual Greek Festival
St. Demetrios – 1145 E. Fort Lowell Road – Tucson
September 23 : 5 p.m. – 10 p.m. - Glow 2010
Triangle L Ranch – 2805 Triangle Ranch Road – Oracle
Daily 7 p.m. – 11 p.m. (September 24 through September 25) - Tucson Oktoberfest 2010
Hi Corbett Field – Midtown – 3400 E. Camino Campestre – TUCSON
September 30 : 5 p.m. – 10 p.m. - Tucson Meet Yourself
El Presidio Park – Downtown – 160 W. Alameda St. – Tucson
October 8 : 11 a.m. – 10 p.m.
Come on Presidio East, join in the experiment! It’ll be fun.
We Need A Quarterback!
Posted on August 27, 2010 · Leave a CommentComing into this season the Arizona Cardinals were faced with a tough question: Who’s the starting quarterback now that Kurt Warner has retired (and on to bigger and better things like Dancing With The Stars)? Whisenhunt and the staff would of course give Matt Leinart another shot at it after he was benched for Warner three seasons ago, but Matt hasn’t been the answer thus far in the preseason.
There’s been talk that he’s too safe when he’s in charge of the game. It seems to me like he might be a little scared to be calling the plays on the field, there are way too many checkdowns at the line of scrimmage. Leinart has been the starter so far in the preseason and hasn’t thrown a TD, but he does have a pretty good completion percentage at 77%. Whisenhunt’s gone ahead and benched Leinart for Saturday’s game against Da Bears and has given Derek Anderson the proverbial ball.
Derek has better numbers this preseason, but that’s expected since he’s come off the bench and has gotten the most snaps like most “backups” do. But, can he translate the same numbers when he’s starting. Whisenhunt and the entire Cardinal Nation hopes so because Leinart will not get it done with the offense we’ve got!
Be sure to catch the game this Saturday when they take on the Bears in Chicago at 5:30 MST to see what the future holds for our Cardinals. Who do you think will end up at quarterback Presidio East?

Smashing Pumpkin – Corgan Comes To The Rialto Theatre
Posted on August 25, 2010 · Leave a Comment
Gish, Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, Siamese Twins – Smashing Pumpkins’ albums strike a chord (no pun intended) in many faithful followers of the band. The melodic tunes and well thought out lyrics are a delight to the senses. Even though Billy Corgan is the only remaining member, the albums alone justify the coming out and celebrating all that was, and still is, Smashing Pumpkins.
Corgan will be at the Rialto Theatre on Wednesday, September 1st and will feature a new supporting band with all the touches of Smashing Pumpkins. While old songs, but goodies, will be played for listening pleasure, the audience will also hear new ambient music that Corgan is so well known for in his independent success.
Presidio East residents are located just minutes (23 actually) from all the action happening on September 1st. The Rialto Theatre has tickets on sale for $40 per person and you can get those directly from their website. Billy Corgan also posts updates from the band on the band page or you can follow his updates on Twitter.
Come out and take a nostalgic trip back to the 90s!
Vino and Southwestern Charm – Tucson Way Of Life
Posted on August 19, 2010 · Leave a CommentResting in the foothills of the Santa Catalina Mountains, Hacienda del Sol oozes southwestern charm with a touch of rugged beauty. Not far from popular downtown excitement, but complete with outdoor activities such as hiking and horseback riding, you will probably be overcome with questions like “why should I return home?”
Well, Presidio East would miss our residents way too much, but we don’t mind keeping our residents up-to-date with events that would spark their interest.
The 2nd Annual Pinot Festival, happening on August 29th, will be hosted at the Hacienda del Sol. Come out and sample pinot wines – Grigio, Noir, and Blanc – from California and Oregon as well as also internationally. Wines from Germany, France and New Zealand will also be available for your tasting pleasure.
While sampling fine wines, tasty food from Tucson’s Iron Chef/executive chef Ramiro Scavo will be available to enhance the wine taste and experience. Wine makers will discuss some of their favorite wines and wine-making techniques with the audience, so don’t miss out!
Presidio East residents are located 30 minutes away from the event, and can find more information at www.haciendadelsol.com or call 1-800-728-6514. Reservations are required and tickets cost $55 per person for general admission and $75 per person for VIP admission. General admission will be from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. and VIP times are 5 p.m. – 9 p.m.
